Hi Janny and Edith, here's the direct quote from the tips I got. To get a "swirly" type of marbling, or what we call zebra stripes at home, sthingy alternate layers of chocolate and banana mixtures down the middle length of the loaf pan. Try to get 6 to 7 layers in all and sthingy the layers directly on top each other. Do not press or flatten as you go along. The sthingyfuls should get less as you reach the top, otherwise the shape may be distorted. As the layers weigh down, they will 'swirl' on their own. There's no need to swirl any further with a knife. Just tilt the loaf pan gently to all corners to even out the batter, then tap lightly to remove air bubbles. Do try and let me know the results!
Posted by: judy I ended out with a lot of pattern, one is this, one is with a smiley in the middle and another one is a tulip in the middle, instead of the zebra stripes she mentioned. sthingy = p in the Tbp. The word couldn't come out!

Janny, That's a bit too much to ask lah. Since my hubby is the photographer, it's very susah. Even now I have to ask him several times before he takes a picture for me (that's why so few pictures). You just follow the instruction and don't worry about how the pattern will turn out, since it's a surprise patterns for me too, each slice might come out different.

Belachan, I totally agree with you. It is something so "ghang ko" (difficult) to ask hubby to help “wife” to do work. But ah…. if “girl friend” is easier. There are some helpfull ones, I must say (Otherwise I will have some them come after meee....Haaaha... ;D ;D ) Lena.

i did the same way for the flower pattern. to obtain a better design, use only 2 colors and the colored portion should be only 1/4 of batter. the ratio of colors is the same when layering.
i made a mistake and my cake became a choc cake streak with yellow.
will try to describle how to layer
use an off set spatula - small of course
use 6 tbsp of plain and use spatula to push to sides like a pie crust
put 1 - 1 1/2 tbsp of choc into the middle and spread thin
put 3 - 3 1/2 tbsp of plain on top of choc layer and spread thin
repeat and end with plain on top

Made this orange angku kuih yesterday. A failure I might say because the bottom skin is tough (is thicker because still don't know how to fold) and has the not cooked bite to it. First attempt though, need a lot more practise!!
