For most Asian people, whose staple meal is cooked rice, having a meal without rice is like not having a meal. I remember one of my uncle, eventhough he had eaten kway teow for example, would still say he hadn't eaten - because he hadn't eaten rice yet When I first lived in Australia some 13 years ago, I went off rice completely. When people asked, I would say I had rice everyday all my life, now I want something different. My mum got a shock when she saw me buying a 500g packet of rice. Unthinkable to her, since she always have a 40kg goony-sack or rice at home. But now that I cook most everyday, rice will be served now and again, at least twice a week. I cook rice porridge when I don't feel like cooking something elaborate. How about you? How often do you eat rice?

believe it or not, sometime I could live without eating rice for months! but now I cook rice regularly as my little girl loves rice, especially the nasi godeng (nasi goreng, that is )

As for me, i don't like rice. I prefer noodles. But my husband is a "rice-eater". So i have to cook rice almost everyday, mainly just for him!!
