A toned rear does more than just lift out your jeans. Strong glutes support your back, improve your posture and protect your knees.
"Our pavements and houses are flat, we sit in offices and our glutes don't get challenged," says physiotherapist Emma Colson. To make your glutes work, do three sets of the following exercise: Lie on your tummy with a pillow under your hips. Bend the left knee to just beyond 90 degrees. Squeeze the buttock first, then use the gluteals to lift the knee a centimetre off the ground. Hold for three seconds, then lower. Do three sets of 10 on each side.
