A group of researchers from Australia has shown that a healthy diet that includes 10 walnuts a day can reduce LDL or 'bad' cholesterol by 10% in people with Type 2 diabetes. The researchers think it is the healthy polyunsaturated fats (including omega-3) in walnuts that give this health benefit.
