A very easy to use tool for slicing cakes into layers. Bought it at Cuisine World at Elizabeth Street, Melbourne for $8.95 each. Verdict: I love it !!!

Wow, first time seeing this! Neat idea! It uses a string to cut the cake right?

It has this lever to adjust the height. And using the small little saw (the one that looks like a key, you saw into the cake. Because there is a piece of string tied to the end of that saw, it will penetrate into the cake. By the time you finish sawing the entire cake, just cross over the string and pull it out. Voila! Done. There is no limit to the size of cake you can cut since the string is very long, unlike the 'saw type' cake slicer that limit the size to the width of the slicer. BTW the store keeper also show me the saw type and another giant saw. He said that one was for catering purposes. I think it must be abt 3/4 meter width!

janny
neat gadget for slicing.
i have seen dental floss used for slicing and quite efficient too.
I still use my 1/2 inch tart ring as a guide and for thinner slices have been using my lazy suzy's edge and slice with the bread knife.
