Hi Edith Nice to have you here with us. I am also a new homecook/baker ;D. I hope we can learn from each other. How was your valentine cake? What sort of cake did you bake? I hope you have successfully mastered the art of baking the elusive sponge cake . I have a new sponge cake recipe from the Better Home & Garden magazine, a passionfruit sponge cake. Very tempted to try. Maybe after all these CNY big cook ups are over I will give it a go.

was so hot that i wasn't in a mood to bake anything yesterday.
but i did bake the oreo muffins and marshmallow pie today.
let's see whether I am up to it to bake a japanese cheese cake tonite.
as for the sponge. Will have to wait a little while (maybe by end week) coz' i am so afraid to attempt it. To "chicken" for failure.
I told my mom that I can take over ALL her recipes that she has collected since her "young" housewife days. This will be my big major project after I finished my curtain (hall) and painting (toilets and washing area).
That is my goal for 2005. :-)

thanks god the weather is cooler now here top 23C today.. yeayyy... wow edith, pretty ambitious of you to take over ALL of your mum's recipe Pls post your success here or in your blog, OK? don't be discouraged by sponge cake. i followed florence's instruction to the dot. i think once you got it right, you sort of know what kind of consistency you are looking for in your batter and hopefully will never fail again.
